Tập huấn hướng dẫn mô hình HTX lâm nghiệp phát triển kinh tế bền vững và bảo vệ rừng cho các HTX tỉnh Cà Mau.

Mangrove forests are a unique ecosystem with high environmental and economic value that nature has bestowed upon Vietnam. They play a crucial role in preserving biodiversity, absorbing CO2 from the atmosphere, storing carbon, mitigating wind storm, tsunamis, erosion, cleaning coastal environments, limiting saltwater intrusion, and protecting groundwater, especially in the face of climate change and rising sea levels. Ca Mau province ranks first in the country in terms of mangrove forest area, covering over 63,000 hectares. The management, protection, and development of mangrove forests play a significant role in the economic, social, and environmental development of coastal areas.

As part of the environmental task “Assessment of pollution status in mangrove forests and proposal of solutions to build and develop sustainable cooperative models, climate change resilience,” the Institute of Science, Technology, and Environment cooperated with the Provincial Cooperative Alliance of Ca Mau to organize a training course titled “Cooperative model development for sustainable economic growth and mangrove forest protection for agricultural and aquatic cooperatives near or within mangrove forests in Ca Mau province” on August 15-16, 2023, in Ca Mau City. The training course was attended by representatives from the Provincial Cooperative Alliance of Ca Mau, 50 trainees including directors, members of cooperatives in the province, and representatives of the task force steering committee.

Mr. Tran Quoc Huong – Delivering the opening speech for the training course.

In his opening speech for the training course, Mr. Tran Quoc Huong – Director of the Small and Medium-sized Enterprise Cooperative Support Service Center – Provincial Cooperative Alliance of Cà Mau emphasized: “Currently, there is no forestry cooperative model in the province, only agricultural and aquaculture cooperative models exist. However, these agricultural and aquaculture cooperatives are also developing based on mangrove forests and the benefits they provide. Therefore, the training course will provide useful information and knowledge to participants about the potential, roles, and functions of mangrove forests, as well as suggestions for establishing forestry cooperative models based on mangrove forests. This is not only an economically feasible cooperative model but also has great significance in environmental protection and social support.

The instructor is interacting with the students.
